Old PC games’ error: “Please insert correct CD rom”. What to do?

A friend of mine gave me an old PC game, its called “Soul Reaver: Legacy of kain 2″. I installed it and when trying to run it, it pops this error:“Please insert correct CD Rom, select OK and restart aplication”.
What do I do??
I have reinstalled it several times, I´ve even tried to run it on a virtual drive (burning an ISO image to my HDD and then loading it with Nero Image Drive), but it doesnt work.This error pops on several PC games, not only on this one and I want to know if the CD is corrupted or if is there anything I can do to fix it???
Please Help!! I really want to play this game :S

There will be a crack folder in the cd .open the crack folder .copy the icon in it and paste it in the folder where you have installed the game .and then run it .
or
the cd must copy of the original cd
