Copy Xbox360 game to hard drive and use different disc to play game?

I have a game disc which is now damaged, it will play up to a certain point before failing. I have tried to copy this to hard drive to play from there, although also wont work due to the disc condition. Is it possible to rent another copy of the game, install to hard drive, but then use my own disc to verify that I own it?
