Can I use an xbox to usb adapter then use a jump drive (256 mb) to copy game saves over to the xbox?

I just ordered an Xbox to USB adapter because I heard that you can use it with a jump drive to transfer over game saves from a pc over to the xbox. I also have the latest ms dashboard installed; i heard you need it for the xbox to format the jump drive.
