Why does my PC crash when I try to start a 3D game or even a video clip?

I recently installed a new video card, psu & dvd-roms. My PC was working fine for about a week until the problem happened. Everytime I tried to open a 3D game or even a video clip, my pc crashes. My monitor went dead & after a few minutes the dos prompt appeared. I thougt it was rebooting but the prompt just kept blinking, no commands were loaded. My only option was to push the reset button. Once restarted, i tried again but the same problem occurs. Only after 4~5 attempts i was able to run a 3d game. Strangely, the problem also happens even when i tried to open a video clip! So, id like to ask if anybody have faced this problem or haveany thoughts in this matter. I could format my whole system & reinstall everything but my hdd is 320gb & ive used approx 80% of it. So itll take some time 4 me to backup all the data into dvds. By the way, i already installed the latest driver for my video card. My PC setup:CPU: Intel P4 2.8GHz Nothwood
M/B: MSI 845 Pro2 (MS-6528)
RAM: Winova 512mb x 2 SDRAMs
VGA: XFX GeForce 7600GT 256DDR3 AGP
PSU: CoolerMaster Extreme Power 460W
HDD: Maxtor 320GB IDE
DVD: Lite-On IDE 20x (2 units)>>Click Here to Download the Best Game Copy Software Now<<
